Four Days of Gen Con 2011: X-Wing

General Collectibles is back at it again and we will be covering one game per day at GenCon!  Our second episode covers the highly anticipated miniature game, Star Wars X-Wing by Fantasy Flight Games. This game won't be released until early 2012 and this is the very first video preview out there!

Fantasy Flight Games received their Star Wars license and went to work on this highly anticipated miniatures series.  It features X-Wings and Tie Fighters only.  The first set will be its core set.  Expansion sets will follow after its initial release.

This is a different miniatures game.  It doesn't need a board and movement acts similar to Games Workshops Warhammer.  It also features character cards that give your star fighters some uniqueness while the miniatures act as a base.  I really like this method since it is the pilot who has the characteristic and not the spaceship.

Besides the Star Wars X-Wing game, they also featured the Star Wars LCG at their booth.  This is another game they have been working on since obtaining the license.  Hopefully the LCG style and collectibility will keep this game in production longer than previous versions of the Star Wars card game.  Because the history of Star Wars collectible card games is not so good.

Make sure to check your local game store soon because Star Wars X-Wing is expected to release in early 2012.
